 The Innovation Watch/SYSTEMATIC Project

The main objective of the Innovation Watch/SYSTEMATIC project is to give detailed insight on sectoral innovation performance which sets the stage for policy development at the regional, national and European level. The research evolves around the factors and institutions which impact on innovation performance at the sectoral level but also describes the framework conditions for economic development in the sectors under review. To achieve these ambitious objectives indicators out of available databases will be developed and original data (e.g. on innovative firms and regulations at level of member states) will be gathered by a network of national experts. Thus the project team relies on the creative exploitation of existing databases and flexible data collection on issues which are not covered yet by the available databases. Together this rich data base will be used to analyse sectoral innovation performance from various perspectives: both horizontally (i.e. across sectors) and vertically (i.e. within 9 selected sectors and the 2 horizontal topics) detailed studies on innovation performance will be elaborated.
Innovation Watch/SYSTEMATIC is part of Europe INNOVA. Europe INNOVA is an initiative for innovation professionals supported by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Programme.
